the first exfoliation reduces the hard skin on your soles,but not by much. after the third time you'll have feet you'd dream of having. i found that the first time i used it, the mini grains and exfoliation beads, in a way, exfoliated my hands too which i found was a bit of an irritant as i have sensitve skin, but recently i have acquired some bath scrub gloves which guard my hands and also this gives me more excuse to scrub harder on my tired working feet. the smell is nice but it easily washes away with the water.. i'd like for the smell to linger with my feet, but if you want the nautical scent, i would recommend buyers to look into the accompanying balm too to fortify the scent. hope this helps.
